This Unit covers the types of Equipment that a teacher may encounter in their EFL/ESL classroom, as well as what things may or will be useful as Teaching Aids. Besides the usual whiteboards and blackboards (chalkboards) the use of Interactive White Boards (IWBs) are increasing in schools that can afford them, as more of a digital alternative. However, I've learned that this teaching aid isn't 100% foolproof, and therefore the teacher must still have a backup plan in case of failure. ie. writing on the black/white board, having worksheets, being able to adapt the lesson plan, etc. For teaching aids, the newer things I've learned about is the use of most things digital, since I've never had a chance to encounter them in my own grade schooling. Some examples of this include the use of YouTube and Podcasts. It is easy to see why they are considered useful tools in an EFL/ESL setting, because it can provide a most authentic representation of native English speaking.
