This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit has its focus on the two productive skills, i.e. speaking and writing. I extend my gratitude to the authors for all the valuable teaching methods and ideas. As to the speaking part, I believe this is the moment to introduce students, both newbies or advanced, to the long neglected art of rhetoric. With regard to writing, I could not agree more with the authors that writing is the most neglected of the four communicative skills, and not just in the TEFL world. I further believe, and may I be permitted a pinch of poetic license, that creating a desire in students for creative writing should be the teachers' pride and a task to be taken in stride, for the pen is mightier than the sword. Alas there is simply too much sword and not enough pen in the world, and the sort of the sword wielding sort is not always the pen. So let us promote good writing and change lives for the better. Let us keep the swords at the hip and make the old penmanship hip. Thank you.
