This unit explained the usage of conditionals and the formulation of reported speech in English and provided several ideas for how to teach the use of conditionals in a classroom setting. I found the overview of the conditionals to be very thorough and effective in explaining both the appropriate usage cases and grammatical formulations for each type of conditional. With regard to the portion of the chapter dealing with reported speech, I found the overview of reported speech to be very well thought out and I think that I will be able to apply several of the ideas suggested in the chapter when teaching. That being said, it would have been helpful to include some context in the reported speech section so that it was somewhat more explicitly stated when the reporting of the speech was occurring relative to the point at which it was spoken . I only mention this because such examples are often useful in helping to clarify how to properly construct reported speech.
