This unit has been interesting because many of the concepts seemed to be second nature to me. I understand that each teacher may have a different approach in the classroom, however, I personally like to encourage and support students. I do not like to intimidate them. However, watching these two lessons really helped me to realize how sometimes, intimidation can be a result of poor lesson planning. Although this did not seem to come up in the quiz questions above, I had the impression that one of the reasons the teacher failed in the first lesson was because he was unprepared for the classes response. As a teacher, it is important that we have can be prepared to redirect our lesson if we realize the students are not following us or change our approach if we realize that the engage or activate phases are not working on a particular student or group of students. In this case, I felt that the teacher was not prepared to improvise when his approach was ill received.
