This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was about productive skills. Productive skills include speaking and writing. Writing is often not seen as an important activity, but it is useful and necessary in a EFL classroom. Speaking focuses in both accuracy and fluency skills, and often it is important to focus on fluency, and getting the students to speak to each other, and work on accuracy after. It also provided different speaking activities: controlled, guided, and creative communication. There are several ways to encourage interaction, and also games are quite important for creating an exciting classroom environment. The latter productive skill, writing, includes important topics to cover, such as handwriting (especially when the students have a different alphabet), spelling (English is weird), layout, punctuation, and creative writing. Creative writing is important to give the students a sense of pride, and Iremember from learning French that it was a lot of fun to write my own short story.
