This introductory lesson on teachers and learners was insightful in the way that it outlined the ideals that both teachers and students should strive for. I agreed strongly with the qualities that make a good teacher; most notably, prioritizing the learners' needs over their own desire to teach well. I think a good teacher not only motivates their students, but also is approachable and makes students feel comfortable. Likewise, I think a good teacher can create a good learner.
I also enjoyed reading about the six levels associated with English language training. I think six levels is appropriate in encompassing most learners and their stages of development. I personally am looking forward to delving more into this type of assessment and learning how to differentiate learners according to their stage of English training. I sometimes feel that I am unable to most accurately assess this and I end up spoon-feeding my students rather than appropriately challenging them.
