This unit was about classroom management. It covered the arrangement of the classroom (how seating is arranged) and the advantages and disadvantages of various set ups. It also covered how a teacher's position in the classroom and their interaction with students verbally and non-verbally can affect learning. The benefits of group work, pair work, and individual work were also discussed along with understanding the reasons behind problem behavior and how to handle it. Overall, I believe this unit was really about teacher-student rapport and the variables that can affect it. Some variables, such as classroom arrangement, making eye contact with students, and showing a personal interest in students are within the control of the teacher. Other variables, such as a student's family life, personality, or nationality are beyond the teacher's control and the teacher will need to keep these variables in mind when managing a class and any problem behavior that may arise.
