Unit 2 introduced and reviewed the English parts of speech. A sentence must have at least a subject and verb, but will usually have more words than this.
The unit introduced the usage and types of nouns, plural nouns, and countable versus uncountable nouns. It introduced adjectives and the typical order of multiple adjectives in a sentence, as well as comparatives and superlatives. The rules for articles were described in detail.
Unit 2 went over the four basic verb forms in English (base form, past simple, past participle, present participle) and included charts that listed some common regular and irregular verbs in these four forms. The unit also reviewed the difference between transitive versus intransitive verbs, infinitives, and auxiliary verbs.
Adverb types and their placement in a sentence were reviewed. Common mistakes made by students in regard to adverbs were also introduced. Gerunds, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions were also reviewed in this unit.
