This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit is focused on class management. Various points are explained: how to group students and how to arrange the classroom, how a teacher can use physical presence in order to engage the learners in an appropriate manner. Ways to decrease the teacher talking time and increase the student talking time and student-student interactions are outlined as well. Being a new teacher, learn possible ways in which a teacher can establish rapport and deal with behavioural issues that may occur in the classroom is particularly useful: I think that knowing why a problem arises, how to prevent it or respond to it is pivotal in order to effectively manage a classroom. However, also the sections on how to properly give instructions and explanations, how to write on the board and give individual attention to students are also very helpful. Ultimately, in my opinion, understanding and learning the content of this unit is essential, especially for teacher with little to no experience.
