This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was partly a review and partly a way for me to see how Business English lesson plans might be implemented in a group as opposed to one-on-one, the way I did them in my previous job. I well remember the constant balancing act between authentic and non-authentic materials, especially because many of my learners were absolute beginners or quite low-level native speakers of German. For low-intermediate learners on up, it was easier to supplement the company's existing resources with things found online. Many learners would send me links to their company's website so we could discuss the English-language version of customer-facing material. In the absence of this, I would generate my own content using vocabulary provided by learners or from other situational dialogues in the company resource pool. Ideally, every Business English resource I have should have at least three clear difficulty levels. If it doesn't, I am prepared to put the time in to differentiate.
