I have learned that most importantly, teachers need to enjoy teaching. If teachers don't enjoy teaching, it will become obvious to students that the teacher is not committed to their students. Teachers need to take on a number of roles in the classroom in order to provide an effective lesson. Teachers also need to be versatile in their approach, as well as be self-reflective on their performance. Good learners will be motivated, ask questions, accept error corrections, and have a desire to practice and listen to the language. There are many factors of a learner that may affect their capabilities as a learner - age determines much about the behaviour of a student, their learning capabilities and their motivations for learning. Other factors include cultural background and level of proficiency. The teacher needs to be considerate of all of these factors when delivering a class, and alter their approach depending on the age, behaviour, motivation, and nervousness of learners.
