In this lesson I learned that the two productive skills are writing and speaking. I learned that accuracy activities are activities directed towards producing the language perfectly and in its natural form. The importance is in producing perfect grammar and vocabulary. Fluency activities are activities guided towards producing language at a faster pace and enhancing communication. The producer should not be focused on trying to say every word correctly, but rather, in communicating as freely and creatively as possible. Additionally, I learned that teachers can encourage students to speak and interact with one another in the classroom by making students work in pairs, making students work in groups, providing plenty of controlled and guided activities prior to the start of the speaking exercises and through careful planning. Additionally, teachers can encourage interaction by making speaking activities purposeful and allowing students time to plan what they are going to say.
