This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I learned in this unit how to teach productive skills which are speaking and writing. There are many activities a teacher can do with the students to teach productive skills. Speaking and writing are used for communication and enhancing those skills. There are two types of activities that should be used which are accuracy activities and fluency activities. The accuracy activities are taught in the study phase of a lesson and the fluency activities are taught in the activate phase. I also learned about how controlled activities are accuracy based and that it is mainly controlled by the teacher. It's the opposite for creative communication which is fluency based and the output of the language is from the students. There are many ways to encourage students to speak during lessons and I believe that it is very important for a teacher to somehow get the students to participate in speaking. Writing is just as important as speaking because you need to have a balance of both skills.
