Assessments are part of the English learning experience. They include tutorials, evaluations by students, and tests. Tutorials can be to group or individuals considering the time available and to be equal to all students as possible. Evaluations by students are surveys or questionnaires that help the teacher get an idea of their performance, what students like or not, and other comments. Tests include diagnostic, placement, progress, and external. Placement are used to determine what level the student should go into while diagnostic determines how much knowledge they have. Progress tests occur on the course timeline making them as many or few as the teacher or institution determines. External tests are formal tests used by higher education or corporations to determine the English level of an individual. The student will come across many forms of assessments within the class and even outside. The teacher's role is to give them the skills to be able to review and use English.
