I found most of the information either common knowledge or information I already knew from previous teaching experiences. However, there were some things that I did not think about before. For example, I had not thought before about using students' names after asking a question rather than using them before the question. I also found the advice to err on the side of greater control at the beginning of a course useful, for it is easier to relax control later than to establish it. My greatest concern for classroom management is that my students will just view me as a foreign teacher or not a legitimate teacher. My concern is that they will not treat me with the same level of respect as other teachers, or that they will take advantage of my lack of fluency in their native language to be disruptive in the native language or mean to other students without my knowledge. Because of this, I think it will be especially important for me to establish authority at the start of a course.
