This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit gives an overview of tests that are typically standardized in smaller scale settings such as individual language school to larger scale settings such as universities. The types of tests covered in this unit include placement tests, which are given prior to a student begins a language course to determine his/her language level, diagnostic tests, which similar to placement tests are given to students at the beginning of the language course to see what they already know and don't know, progress tests, which allow the instructor as well as the students to see what the students have learned, and external exams such as the TOEFL. I was hoping that this unit would provide information and examples of creative ways to assess student learning. I was disappointed, however, because although sections 3 and 4 in the sample placement test in this unit did provide good examples of questions, most of the unit was on information on standardized test for English language learners.
