This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit has been a good review of grammar for me. Of course I remembered the basics of verbs and nouns, but some of the more subtle differences between parts of speech had eluded me over time. I can definitely see why grammar is important in a classroom setting. When one is asked, \"Why is this correct and not the other way,\" being able to specifically and accurately give reasons can instill confidence in a student's ability to trust the teacher. That's an integral part of a learning environment, the trust a student has in the teacher's understanding of the subject matter. If a teacher can only answer, \"This is correct because it sounds more natural,\" I can see how a student may think that the teacher doesn't have a full command of the material.
I'm looking forward to learning a little more about these grammatical differences. I think that if I can grasp the grammar of a sentence more soundly, I can help my students formulate rules to help them understand our language.
