This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was very fun because I got to observe the two videos of a teacher teaching a class, and point out what the teacher did good, and what he could have done better at. This comparison unit really helped me identify the ESA structure of lessons, along with how to properly elicit participation from students. I personally liked the attitude of the teacher in the second video because he was excited and positive, which made me pay even more attention to the lesson. I like how he also used visual aids such as the pictures of animals, and gestures for the words: climb, fly, walk, run, etc. to help the students come up with words. This lesson also reminded me that a teacher needs to be flexible with his students (the activity where some the students drew real animals instead of imaginary ones), remember their names, and to appropriately praise them for their participation. Video two clearly was the better of the two videos, and I hope to be able to teach like that in the future.
