There are a plethora of teaching aids that can be used in the daily TEFL classroom. These aids include traditional aids such as whiteboard or chalkboards, overhead projectors, smartboards or interactive whiteboards, and visual aids. It expands past the traditional aids to include multimedia aids such as old cassette tapes, cd's, DVD's, computers, tape recorders, video recorders, and more recently, online websites such as YouTube. Aids including books, dictionaries, worksheets and the integration of other paper materials into the classroom give students something physical to refer to during class. Each aid has its own purpose and unique use to the classroom. The expansion of technology has made it easier for both TEFL students and teachers to access online teaching aids either in the classroom or on their own time. While the tools should not be used to direct the entire lesson or replace the teacher entirely, they present a very effective way to teach and supplement the lesson.
