The main goal of this unit was to identify the roles of teacher and student and how their relationships can creative a positive and productive learning environment. In both teacher and student, there is an emphasis on needing a willingness to learn, an ability to listen, and possessing self motivation to achieve success. However, unlike a student, a teacher much be able to take on more organizational roles such as facilitator, assessor, and manager. I feel that these qualities are relatively straightforward and easy to learn. In order to be a truly effective teacher, one must be engaging, respectful, and sensitive to their students. These qualities are much more difficult to \"learn\" because they must come from a desire to teach and connect with one's students. Some aspects of being a sensitive and attentive educator, as the unit lays out, is understanding differences between adult and young learners as well as being able to identify where each learner is at in their studies.
