This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I really liked this unit because it went over a variety of English learners and suggestions of how to react to each of them best. I had never learned of \"In Loco Parentis\" before, but that is certainly what teachers are when children are away from home and at school. When teaching to children we should do our utmost to only speak in English. After all, if we continue doing it for long enough, most of the children will come to understand. However, I just wonder if that would be as effective for children at the junior high school level, for example. I feel that speaking only English infers that the students are in elementary school or below. I do understand that it is also possible to make higher level beginner classes entirely in English, I just think it would be more difficult to do because the malleability of the child's brain that is essential is much more diminished in the brain of an adult who has not learned a language before or if it's their first time learning English.
