Unit 16 is about conditionals and reported speech . Conditionals are sentences containing “ifâ€( or similar such as when)which refer to past , present and future possibilities.I learned in this unit that they are five conditionals namely; zero conditionals (if/when=present tense , present) and it refers to facts and actions that are irrefutable . Other conditionals like first , second , third and mixed conditionals also have their forms and usage .Furthermore ,teaching ideas for conditionals like split sentences , complete the conditional, chain conditional etc can be very helpful to teachers. Reported and direct speech is one of the topic in this unit. I have learned that when changing a statement from direct to reported certain changes are made at the level of tenses . For example ,present simple( direct) changes to past simple ( reported speech) , will (direct) Would ( reported) ,etc . Finally , teaching ideas like , intermediaries , reporting verbs ,media interview .
