Productive skills refer to the speaking and writing of the language (English). Although the most neglected of the 4 basic skills, writing is still an important skill to for a student to learn. Activities used for teaching speaking and writing are of 2 types of categories. Accuracy activities, usually found during the study phase, focuses on the producing correct language and usually under controlled guidance (i.e., the teacher). Fluency activities, usually found in the activate phase are less controlled an focus on the students being allowed to be creative and experimental with the language. Speaking activities in the classroom may be controlled, guided or creative. As for the writing skills, spelling, layout and punctuation are important. Handwriting is as well, although can be a person topic due to the different ways of handwriting in different countries. Including games in the classroom is a good way to make the lesson more fun and encourage interaction among students.
