This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was more closely resembling linguistic classes I've had in the past. It is indeed going on phonology and pronunciation, but also working greatly with how we intonate and pronounce our words. I like that it talked about IPA, the mouth placement, and also how we articulate our words. I have a minor in linguistics, and all of this stuff is very important to understand how to properly pronounce and articulate our words. The knowledge of rather something in a fricative, affricative, liquid, etc. is very important, and even more so the placement in the mouth is important. For example the pronunciation of a D or T in Spanish compared to English is different, and it occurs in different parts of the mouth. The knowledge of what we covered in this chapter would really help someone teaching a L2 speaker how to better there pronunciation, especially because a lot of time we have the same letters across languages, but we pronounce them differently within different parts of our mouth.
