Receptive skills and production skills are very important for learning a language. Receptive skills include reading and listening. These skills are called receptive because you take some input and understand it thats why its called receptive skills. In order to develop the receptive skills of the students we should pre-teach them difficult vocabulary words so when listening to a lesson which include those words they can understand it and feel more confident but we should also let them have experience with getting the idea of a text by just reading the text even if they don't understand the meaning of every word included in the text.We should select the topic very carefully that it tries to attain the interest of as many students as possible and also try to use text of various interest to make students having different interests pay some attention towards the lesson.Using ESA technique to enhance the teaching skills can also help the students to become good at their receptive skills
