This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Modal auxiliary verbs, such as can, could, may, might, must(n’t), should, would, be able to etc., are used to show ability, necessity, prohibition, obligation, possibility, willingness, deduction, etc. In a sentence, they never change form.
There are two voices used in English: active and passive. Passive voice is usually used when it is not known or it is not important who performs an action. The form of the passive voice is: the auxiliary verb to be in particular tense + past participle.
Phrasal verbs, or multi-word verbs, consist of a verb + one or two particles. There are three types of phrasal verbs: intransitive, transitive separable and transitive inseparable.
What I’ve found as the most useful in this Unit are the teaching ideas: especially the ones with rules and signs (modals) and tips relating phrasal verbs. By incorporating such ideas into the lessons we are combining grammar with real life topics and therefore students won’t find grammar so complicated.
