Lesson planning is a really important step to make a class more effective and productive.
I insist that as a teacher, you are not only supposed to plan the lesson, the content you're teaching, you need to plan the STUDENTS as well.I mean you have to count them in your plan. For example, knowing them better before class would be very rewarding too.If you know their personality, their English level better, you will find that the lesson plan goes more smoothly in class.
When a teacher first start teaching, lesson plans play an even important role. You may find that you still lack some flexibility to change your pace at any time in the first several lessons. If some problems or incidents come up,you may lose your pace soon and it's a waste of time I guess.
So I still believe that no matter how long you have been teaching, lesson planning is always necessary. It's not only a document to refer to in class, but also a record of your work.Meanwhile,it will become part of your professional career too.
