This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit dealt with teaching themes. It taught us how case studies work, and the process of using in the classroom. Setting up teams and introducing and executing the lesson. Also this unit introduced the concept of frame-working and how the idea of it into pertains to ESL business teaching. We also learned about problem based learning and the subtle difference from case studies, the students have to discover the problem instead of it being given to them. The unit also mentioned how to incorporates games into the lessons. We were given more tools and resources from the internet for finding company reports and business letter templates. Finally, we were introduced to Speech Act Theory, and how each concept built upon another. For me the first part unit was a bit difficult to grasp. I haven't had much experience with case studies while going through school. I really appreciated the lesson plans at the end of the chapter as it gave me a good idea how to execute a class on these topics.
