This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covered modals, passive and active voices, relative clauses, and phrasal verbs. I studied a chart that gave specific detailed information about what circumstances each modal would be appropriate for. I realized how different modal choices can have a stronger impact on some pieces of information more than others. I learned good ways to teach the difference between active and passive voice and how to change the verbs in a sentence to make it passive. I also learned the difference between defining and non-defining relative clauses. Though I was aware of this difference I now realize how vital it is for students to understand how it changes the meaning of what is being said. This is more relevant for writing than speaking. The last thing I learned was that phrases like \"put up with\" are actually considered a category of verbs, specifically called phrasal verbs. There are several types of phrasal verbs and now I understand how they can be used and how to effectively teach them.
