This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit explained how to manage a class. First, this unit covered how important eye contact is. Eye contact can be used to keep control of a class, to make students feel involved in the class, and to give hints about a students response. Second, this unit covered how to organize a classroom. It is important to keep in mind the differences in personality, experience, and aptitude when deciding how to group the students. For example, it may either be beneficial to put a confident student with a less confident student, or it may hinder the less confident student. Third, this unit covered how to organize talk time between students and teachers. It is important that the students get enough time to talk with the teacher but it can be hard to work that time into the class. In conclusion, I have learned that eye contact is a tool and should be used as one, that different student groupings have different results, and that it is vital that the students are involved in each part of the lesson.
