Unit 4 treats in details the present tense. It states that though linguist can create a solid argument that basically only two tenses exist, the present and the past, but as EFL teachers we should not stop here. We have to go further and study the other twelve tenses. It is also worth noting to EFL teachers to consider that there three different times in English. Tense means time; the past, the present and the future. Each of these times has four aspects;
• Simple
• Continuous
• perfect
• perfect continuous
It is essential for EFL teachers to master and have a sound knowledge of theses tenses. This is because sentence construction depends upon the correct usage of these tenses.
So both EFL teachers and learners of English must learn and master these tenses and also know how to use these different tense properly/correctly.
Tenses can be very confusing but unit 4 enlightens us on some of the most commonly made mistakes and shows us how to avoid making theses mistakes.
