Unit 20 brings up some of the common difficulties an EFL teacher will encounter, such as large classes, students at different levels, and the use of the students' native language in class. This unit also quickly reviews how to overcome the reluctance issues that were covered in the productive and receptive skills units. Each difficulty is followed up with suggestions for managing it, including specialized activities and teaching techniques. Ultimately, a teacher has to work with, and take advantage of, whatever circumstances he/she finds him-/herself faced with. Success always comes down to the ability and desire to assess the needs of the students and find a way to meet them without compromising the educational goal of the moment. This unit gives many useful suggestions and tips. A teacher must, however, be able to improvise new solutions to new problems as they arise. This course provides a good knowledge base and a lot of resources; the rest is a matter of experience and flexibility.
