Unit 7 is a good quick review with helpful ESA planning for vocabulary, grammar and function of the language. It points out the most important factors to take into account when teaching a new language: the exposure to the language, understanding the meaning, understanding the construction and being able to practice and produce the language. For vocabulary, it is important to look for appropiacy, frequency to be used, teachability and be very clear for low level since students are motivated to learn the basic words, therefore are very receptive. For grammar, it is important the meaning of the language, its use, its forms and patterns, how its spoken and written. For language functions it is important to show its appropiacy. I found this unit to be very helpful, but at times I would get confused with the engage activities because they seemed very similar for grammar and function of the language, but at the end, I believe it will all depend on the study focus and level we want to teach.
