This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I learned that by teaching children, patient repetition, encouragement and praise are the most important parts in language growing process. There are some basic rules I need to follow, 1, I need to speak english all the time and persist the students should do the same too. 2, When doing the instructions, I need to put the instructions short and clearly, at the same time I will use gestures to help students to understand. 3, make fun of myself, kids love people to be silly. Another two things i have learnt are how to set up class disciplines and what I can't do in the classroom. Some students may have some problems in the classroom, the reasons behind these are usually seeking attention, I can give these kind of students some work to do, like to be my assistant. For the students who have peer pressure, I can change their seats and mix them up in different groups. The things I should avoid are, first, i can't show I have favorite students, can't issue threads and can't raise my voice etc.
