Unit 7 covers the importance of vocabulary, grammar structures, and language functions as well as strategies and suggestions for teaching them to ESL students.
Most helpful of all of these are the suggested activities for the Engage, Study, and Activate stages, as these help me to understand proven methods for conveying this information. In addition to providing example lesson objectives, e.g. at the end of this lesson, students will be able to discuss household objects, the specific example activities, like having students drawn their home floor plans and discussing them, are good fodder for developing lesson plans.
I also appreciate that this unit further enforces understanding and creation of lesson plans by reviewing the structures of straight arrow, boomerang, and patchwork styles. Out of the three, I feel that boomerang is the best compromise between: time spent on an activity, student engagement, and teacher talk time. I am looking forward to utilizing many activities as I teach.
