The teaching pronunciation and phonology section carries many new topics and details that I would not have considered before. Simple pronunciation is something that is common and we are aware of often, especially interacting with non-native English or people with differing accents, although the terminology, functions and methods are not very familiar. Starting with intonation and the variation in sound and pitch was very helpful to review and practice. The ways we talk, listen and interpret sounds everyday are explained well throughout the lesson. For example the rise and fall for traditional sentences, or fall to rise that demands more of a response. Some additional aspects such as stress and sound joining were very interesting. Finally the phonetic alphabet is very new for me, it took a while to become accustomed to the sounds and symbols but once this is done there seems to be much reason behind its use. Techniques for teaching and practicing all of these new topics were helpful as well.
