This section covered the theories, methods and techniques used in teaching. It seems that the most useful method of teaching is ESA or engage, study and activate. This method allows for both flexibility and the ability to use other teaching methods in its' phases. Engage, study and activate were both clearly defined and I was given examples of each phase. Engage is used to get student motivated. Therefore little to no new language concepts are introduced, no corrections are given to mistakes, and students are encouraged to talk. The study phase includes both language activities and learning new language concepts. The focus on this section is accuracy in both grammar and spelling. Lastly, the Activate phase, students are encouraged to freely talk in their L2 language where the focus is fluency not accuracy. The last parts of this section include the correct way to correct students. A teacher should only do so as a final resort after trying to fish the correct answer out of the class/student.
