This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
There is a clear difference in students that have been majorly exposed to the English Language and those that barely come into contact with it. And thus we can't hope to use the methods we were raised with and instead we need to get our students engaged in ways that want to get them to experiment with the language. Most typically we should poke at them with games and other engaging activities to boost their confidence with the language. After that there should be a period where you should drill what they have learned and then afterwards review with them and see if there are improvements that could be made with them. It is also clear that as a teacher I should be aware of when and where each technique would be more beneficial to the students and make things more comfortable with them. Before a teacher corrects the class/student time should be given so they should try and figure at what's incorrect and allow them to correct themselves instead of just stepping in and correcting them immediately.
