This unit provides excellent examples of class structure. Utilizing different class structures will keep classes interesting, engaging, and effective. The unit focuses on different teaching methodologies such as grammar-translation and task-based learning (amongst many others) and summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of all of the different methodologies. The unit also provides examples of various activities that can be used in the engage and activate sections of a class.This was an interesting lesson. It covered some of the most common language teaching methodologies that have been used over the years. It then introduced the ESA lesson format. This is a helpful methodology because it provides some flexibility for the teacher, while still remaining effective and enjoyable for the students. It allows the students to feel relaxed and comfortable, study the technical aspects of L2, and use it freely and conversationally, all in the same lesson.
