This lesson goes over both of the receptive skills used in language learning, separated from the productive skills. It stresses the importance of teaching each of them, although it is helpful to utilize various skills throughout lessons even when they focus on one. This allows students to strengthen their understanding. The sample lesson and activities provide examples of how to utilize each of the receptive skills in a lesson, then use a productive skill to demonstrate understanding.From this unit I learned the importance of the correct use of the various learning and teaching aids in the classroom. I also learned that almost every aid can be used in a classroom but that it must be used correctly. Videos for example can provide excellent models and real world situations but can be misused if native language subtitles are used. I also learned how video and audio tools can be used to help improve students pronunciation and self analysis and self correction skills.
