This unit gave a brief overview of various language teaching methodologies. It gave a much more detailed description of the ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) approach, which is very suitable for new teachers and used in this course. It also provided some information about correction/feedback techniques.
Due to a great array of examples and a lot of explanations I now have a much better understanding of teaching techniques and how to practically use them in the classroom.Managing classes proves that for an effective teaching not only matters to know the contents to teach, but the way how it's done. Elements such as the pupils' characteristics and the way they interact with the class are things to be considered and come up with the most appropriate technique to ensure a pleasant learning experience. With the right stimuli, even problematic students could moderate their behavior and even try to cooperate with the class and the teacher.
