This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 3 reviews various theories, methods and techniques used for teaching a foreign language. Certain methods, like \"grammar - translation\" or \"presentation, practice and production\", are still in use, while others like \"audio - lingualism\" are not practised any more. The choice of techniques needs to be adjusted to the students. It was interesting for me to learn about the ESA method - Engage, Study, Activate - which allows to mix various approaches in a structured yet flexible way. I now recognize that some of my teachers used this method as well!Lesson planning is good for the teacher to help her/his subject be ready and manage. Lesson planning can also help the teacher to know if she forget to something for the lesson, like for example she need to do the lesson plan at the evening and that after she goes to bed she can check if everything is there on the lesson plan that she/he just did. Because making lesson plan is not easy as it says here in this unit that there are lots of things to do in the lesson not only the objectives and not only about the lesson but most specially for for the students.
