This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 20 discusses common problems found in the EFL classroom and solutions to said problems. First lessons can be difficult. There are two types of first lesson situations 1) new group, where the students are unfamiliar with each other and have no experience with EFL 2)existing group, where the students are familiar with each other and have some experience with EFL. In either case it is important to learn about the students and their needs and to build a report not jump right into a lesson. Another problem often encountered is different levels of learning within the same classroom. One solution for this is to use different materials based on the individuals'- needs. Another way round handle this is to use the same materials but assign different difficulty tasks. Some teachers don't do anything and just let the weaker students just catch up but this can possibly lead to student frustration. Finally, some teachers pair students of various levels allowing stronger students to help the weaker ones.
