There are 4 main groups of learning and developmental theories. The maturation theory determines that the physical and mental development of a child is based on heredity. The environmental theory conversely believes that a child's development is influenced by their surrounding. Constructivism and cognitive development combine both previous theories (nature+environment).
Teaching young learners ages 5-9 will imply the use of various short physical activities (Engage and Practice) and drilling. The ESA methodology is recommended to teach older children (9-13). In any case, communication in English during the class is essential. One may set up the classroom in different ways depending on the activities (circular seating, semi circular, row of seats...)
The course defines learners' level from breakthrough to waystage (5-9 years old) and from A1 to C2 (9-13 years old).
