There are 4 main groups of learning and developmental theories. The maturation theory determines that the physical and mental development of a child is based on heredity. The environmental theory conversely believes that a child's development is influenced by their surrounding. Constructivism and cognitive development combine both previous theories (nature+environment).
Teaching young learners ages 5-9 will imply the use of various short physical activities (Engage and Practice) and drilling. The ESA methodology is recommended to teach older children (9-13).
