This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit the focus was about understanding the basic building blocks of a sentence with tips on how to teach them. It went over nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions and conjunctions. I feel I have a better understanding of what exactly each part is, and why each part could be difficult for a foreign learner. Specifically I learned a lot more about the definite and indefinite articles. As a native English speaker, we really do not put too much thought into these words, but when someone asks, \"How would you teach 'a/an', 'the', and the zero article?\" you realize just how difficult it is to really understand its usage. To separate \"a/an\" and \"the\" there are two factors: \"a/an\" can only be used with one noun and \"a/an\" is for something may exist whereas \"the\" is for something that is definitely known to exist. By understanding each part more and how they could be difficult to students, I think I will be able to teach more effectively in the future.
