This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit has proven to be a great means of finishing up the course as it points to the most common problems that teachers can face in the classroom. One thing that I found most helpful when thinking about common problems is the problem that teachers can run into when it comes to new groups. What helps me to find confidence when preparing to teach for the first time is being able to use games and activities like \"Pass the Ball\" or \"Twenty-Questions\" as a means of building rapport. This can be useful likewise because it allows teachers the opportunity to assess student needs and also to get the children thinking in English.
Another thing that I learned as helpful through this unit was that of common problems surrounding listening to cassettes. When it comes to certain students being able to comprehend audio better than others, how do you know when to move on? It is nice to know that most teachers prefer to give each student the amount of time necessary to finish audio exercises before moving on.
