I have heard many of the different tests available for second language learners of English, but I never knew the actual distinctions before so it was good to read through this chapter. I feel that the difference for placement, progress, diagnostic, etc is a little self explanatory; however, it still felt good to cover those differences as well. There are a lot of external exams for students, so the different sections outlining what each test is designed for was great to read through. I feel as if I have a better understanding of some of the goals that students try to strive towards now.This unit covered the aspects of classroom management. It discussed the importance of maintaining a balance of appropriate levels of teacher talk time and student talk time. It covered different seating arrangements and teaching methods that could effect classroom behavior/management, and covered appropriate ways for dealing with problem behavior. I think that the section on responding to problem behavior is especially helpful, since most people will naturally want to react in whatever way they personally would, which isn't always the best way to react to deal with the problem behavior.
