Managing a classroom encompasses a variety of points to be aware of. Gestures are important to use because they help give visual cues to students. Knowing how eye contact plays a role in keeping the attention of your students is something that can take practice. Even knowing how to ask questions of students can keep the students engaged in the discussion. There is a balance to consider when talking as the teacher versus allowing the students to have talk time. Developing rapport with students is a good way to thwart discipline issues in a class. It is also easier to begin classes in a more structured less formal atmosphere and have room to relax the class structure than to go the other way. Being well organized and considering these issues as well as class seating will help your classroom to run more smoothly.
