This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit I was introduced to English grammar. Unit 2 began with an overview of basic sentence structure then moved on to explanations and examples of nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions and conjunctions. As a native English speaker I have never had to study English grammar to this extent so it took a while for me to absorb some of the information. I came into this unit with only a basic understanding of sentence structure, nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. The rest of the content covered was new to me. In particular, I didn't know what a gerund was nor the function of an article in a sentence. What I found useful in this unit was to practice identifying the parts of speech in any given sentence, giving explanations of the various parts of speech and their functions, and coming up with example sentences for clarification. This unit has boosted my knowledge of English grammar while testing my skills of explanation and ability to provide relevant examples.
