This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This is a very significant unit. Very useful to be able to actually see the actions and behaviours exemplified along this course.
On both lessons, one can see themes that were talked about mostly in unit 3, unit 5 and unit 9.
How to structure a lesson, how to elicit responses from students, ideas for activities. The first lesson was also structured, in a different manner than the second, and not according to the ESA methodology. Also, the approach of the teacher can really make a difference, as well as the elicitation methods used.
The proper behaviour, amount of eye contact, time facing the board, were well exemplified in the second lesson. In contrast to the first, where the teacher stood facing the board for a long time, with no input from the students.
The need for planning, to have one's teaching materials ready and at hand. One could see what bad impression the lack of these things left on students in the first lesson, and the time spent by the teacher looking for specific pages among his things.
